The Agency is today launching a free text service for those who need to know quickly when the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) publishes opinions on its evaluation of food colours.
EFSA is currently undertaking a systematic re-evaluation of all authorised food additives in the European Union and has started by looking at all colours. EFSA has been asked to do this work in the interest of consumer protection to take account of new research since the original assessments were carried out.
The Agency is aware that alerting those who may be affected by a decision is important so has launched the text service to alert them when EFSA publishes an opinion on a colour. The Agency will also send an alert when a regulatory decision is made about a food colour or there is other important information to communicate about food colours.
To sign up to this free SMS service, simply send the text message 'START COLOURS' to 62372. Texting 'STOP COLOURS' to the same number unsubscribes you. The initial text will be charged at your network provider's rate.
