© CORDIS.EUROPA.eu - 19/02/2008

A training course entitled 'Strategies in directed differentiation of embryonic stem cells into mature cell types for therapy' will be held in Gentofte, Denmark, from 28 to 30 May.

The course is designed for young investigators and PhD students whose research concerns developmental biology, stem cell biology, or the cell biology of diabetes. The objective of the course is to teach participants: (i) current knowledge of the control of the state of pluripotency - including differences and similarities between mouse and human ES cells; (ii) understanding of the foetal developmental biology of target organs/cell types; (iii) how to define translational strategies to control ES-cell differentiation towards therapeutic cells of interest in vitro.

The course is organised by the JDRF Centre for BetaCellTherapy in Diabetes, with the support of the EU's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
